The time has come for us to announce our finalists for the Gamification in Education & Learning Award 2019!

We had some fantastic entries to the awards and the judges were blown away by the creativity and determination of all the applicants. Again, we would like to apologise for the wait, we wanted to make sure our judges had enough time to give each application the time and attention they deserve.

So… without further ado… your 2019 finalists!

The Gamification Awards Gamification in Education & Learning Finalists

  • GameChangers for CreativeCulture - The GameChangers initiative focuses on the design and implementation of playful and gameful learning experiences, promoting the emergence of a more exploratory, creative culture in everyday academic contexts. GameChangers is an open game and gamification design community, co-created by the Disruptive Media Learning Lab of Coventry University together with staff and students interested in exploring the opportunities of creating games and game-like solutions as a medium for both expression, learning and practice.
  • Arabia Felix - Arabia Felix is the original name of Ancient Yemen - now it is a project to support the peace process in Yemen. The main focus is to teach skills on conflict resolution and spread a message of peace in order to achieve social cohesion through the use of Gamification. Yemeni youths are getting trained as multipliers to start their own gamified projects to stand up against war.
  • Transform! -  The Serious Game created by Living Story is simply called 'Transform!'. It is played in 3 teams of 2 to 5 people, representing a stakeholder (the municipality, the project developer & the residents). Each team has their own table with a (transparent) grip map of a city district, and there is one common table, where teams meet from time to time. They were asked to build a hands-on (analog) serious game about Urban Transformation, to be played with stakeholders in real-life Urban Transformation projects in the early phases of their collaboration, with the purpose to create awareness and consideration for the (often conflicting) interests of the different stakeholders (the municipality, the project developer & the residents).

Our judges are honoured to be judging all the entries. They are scattered across the world working hard to submit their scores ready to announce the winners of the award categories!

We’d personally like to say a HUGE congratulations to our finalists of the Gamification in Education & Learning Award. We hope you are as excited as we are to be announcing this and we now can’t wait to see who our judges crown as their winners!

Of course, we would also like to say congratulations to all the entries to our award categories this year. We’re so thrilled we get to see new and existing gamified projects being entered into the awards and love all of your determination and excitement for the gamification industry!

Dominique is a serial entrepreneur working in gamification since 2001. He founded Globule Bleu, an advertainment agency sold to Publicis, then was CEO of HomeAdvisor France before founding ØPP, a startup studio specialised in gamification.
