Benefits of Entering Awards!
23rd August 2019

Do you have a great idea that you think deserves recognition?
Does your business do something spectacular that you think the world needs to know about?
Then why not enter an award!
Awards are a great way to get yourself, your business or your idea noticed. Now, what can be bad about that? People can sometimes be dubious of entering awards because they may not feel confident in their ideas, they may think “oh I’ll never win”, or that there is too much competition. But really, you never know until you try!
Here are a few pointers that we’ve come up with that may make you decide to enter your business or idea for an award…(or specifically, the Gamification in Sustainability Award!)
1. Maximise the visibility of your business, idea or brand
Winning an award means you are at the top of your game! People will come to you for inspiration, advice or even to collaborate. Once you’ve won an award your business or profile will be shared by the host meaning you’ll be gaining a lot of traffic to your website or social media accounts by people who have noticed you!
2. Networking
Awards are usually judged by already successful or well-known business owners, meaning you’ll be able to get first-hand advice or feedback from people already recognised in your field.
3. Boost Morale
Winning an award feels great! Not only will you feel a huge sense of achievement, if you have a team, so will your team. You and your team will feel that all your hard work has paid off and will be a huge motivator for future work!
4. Competitors
You’ll stand out against your competitors! If you’ve won an award and you’ve got a lovely badge to show off people are more likely to come to you for business.
If that’s not enough to convince you to enter an award, or the Gamification in Sustainability Award…then here are some questions we asked Kira from Gamification Europe who recently won the Gamification+ module prize & Monika Offord who won the Gamification+ prize for the best entrepreneurship research paper at the University of Brighton.

1. Why do you think entering awards are important?
Monika: They’re great for raising your profile and getting recognition for the work that you’ve done. It is also fun to look back on all that you’ve achieved and the progress you or your company has made. It also gives you a confidence boost.
Kira: Entering awards and winning gives you a boost among you competitors, if someone is looking to hiring you or as a client. People can look at what you’ve done and see that you’ve been validated by industry experts.
2. What three things would you say to someone who was dubious of entering awards?
Monika:
· Go for it! You have to be in it to win it
· It’s great to receive feedback to help you improve even further
· Be recognised amongst your peers
Kira:
· Take your time to fill out the application form properly
· Don’t be afraid to boast about the good things you have done
· Just apply anyway! Go for it!
3. How does it feel to win an award?
Monika: It feels great! I love that my hard work has been recognised. It is great to further my career and for other people in the industry to see my achievements.
Kira: Awesome! It was something to look forward to and felt so rewarding that my hard work was being recognised!
