Gamification in Healthcare Award

The Gamification in Healthcare award is for individuals or organisations that have used gamification to benefit health. This could be for fitness, exercise, medication management, chronic condition management, physical therapy, rehabilitation, healthy eating, nutrition, condition detection, memory or addiction. This award is not limited to these categories but should be used as an indicator of the types of subjects that can be covered in this award. 


Entrants can be individuals, teams or organisations from anywhere in the world.

Judging Criteria

Design

The winner of the Gamification in Healthcare Award will have used and applied gamification into a system to help with various healthcare issues. Entrants will be able to detail their approach to gamification and show how and why they chose the gamification elements that were used.


The winning project will be an exemplar of good gamification design.

Impact

Has your project worked?
We will be looking for a  proven positive impact on users healthcare. We will also be looking at the effectiveness of the project for the amount of effort and money put into the project (Return on Investment). 


The winning project will be an inspiration to others to apply gamification to healthcare.

Creativity

Is your project novel and inventive?

We will be looking for playful designs with creative choices and implementations of game elements. We will also be looking at how the game elements  are themed within the project and how immersive the design or narrative is.


The winning project will be striking and attract lots of attention.

Karen Sikkema 

Game-Based Learning Expert

Karen Sikkema is a game-based learning expert with over 15 years of experience in designing serious games and gamification. With her creative companies Living Story and Wintertuin Experience BV, she is designing experiences, location based games, adventures for cultural heritage, and game-based learning for teams and businesses. Her aim is to create meaning in the world by connecting people to themselves, to others and to great locations, and thus contribute to creating a sense of belonging, connection and respect for yourself and others. Karen is also a visiting professor at HKU Utrecht University of the Arts (NL) and Politecnico di Milano (IT), teaching on game design, gamification and entrepreneurship in the creative industries.  

Tim Andrews

COO and Co-Founder ORCHA

Tim has spent a number of years within the NHS, leading a number of teams providing technical and business intelligence support to a wide range of NHS clients. Prior to that Tim operated in the commercial sector in a number of senior roles within the technology and business process outsourcing sector, providing support to a wide array of public and private sector clients. Tim has also worked as a Commercial and Technology lawyer with DLA Piper.

Because of her primary research through her own products and solutions, Juliette is considered a pioneer and expert in applying gamification and social functionality to online learning.
